Anthrax: This Disease has been continuously in the news and on the Public's and Health Care Providers' minds. A number of sources for useful information are available, links to ones we have found are below:

1. A recent CDC webcast for Clinicians can be viewed, or a free VHS copy requested, at: http://www.sph.unc.edu/about/webcasts/bioter_10-18_stream1.htm

2. The CDC has a long list of Frequently Asked Questions about Anthrax, as well as a link to bioterrorism information, and related issues.

3. CDC Public Health Emergency Preparedness & Response: www.bt.cdc.gov

Smallpox:

Smallpox disease was eradicated from earth in 1977. Because of concerns that smallpox virus could be used as an agent of bioterrorism, providers should be familiar with the disease and the vaccine to prevent it.

FREE VIDEO COPIES AVAILABLE: The CDC will provide a single VHS videotape of a 12/13/01 satellite and web broadcast program free of charge to anyone who is unable to view the live broadcast. In this satellite and web broadcast, a panel of experts from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will present information on virology, epidemiology, clinical features and diagnosis of smallpox, and the characteristics and use of smallpox vaccine. You can order the video from the Public Health Foundation by phone at 1-877-252-1200 or online at http://bookstore.phf.org. Alternatively, you may send a request for a single copy of the video by sending your name and complete mailing address by e-mail (info@phf.org) or fax (301-843-0159) with "Smallpox" in the subject line.
